Student Preceptorship Program

Health Partners of Western Ohio is committed to providing educational experiences for students in various health professions at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as adult learning vocational programs.

Health Partners welcomes student applications for our Student Preceptorship Program. A Preceptorship is a period of practical experience and training for a student that is supervised by an expert or specialist in a particular medical field of interest.

A Preceptor is a health care professional who is employed by the facility in which the clinical experience takes place, holds the appropriate certification, and agrees to provide supervision to a student for a specified period of time. The preceptor assists the student in meeting identified learning objectives.

A Student is an individual who seeks the use of Health Partners facilities, programs and services for education, training, observation and/or career exploration opportunities, is at least 21 years of age, and is currently enrolled in an adult learning vocational, undergraduate, or graduate program. Health Partners will also consider job shadowing opportunities for students enrolled in a vocational high school with prior approval by administration and the student’s parent or guardian.

Examples of student levels that may be approved for preceptorships at Health Partners include: MA, LPN, RN, NP, PA, LPC, LPCC, LSW, and LISW.

All interested students must complete an application for the program.
